Napoli has confirmed that Victor Osimhen is not available for the Super Eagles due to an injury.
Napoli has announced that Victor Osimhen will miss Nigeria’s upcoming international fixtures due to an injury concern.
The forward was relegated to the substitute’s bench during the 1-1 stalemate against Inter Milan at San Siro last Sunday and participated minimally in the team’s training sessions leading up to the game.
Francesco Calzona, Napoli’s coach, attributed Osimhen’s limited involvement to inflammation related to a previously sustained injury. As a result, Osimhen’s name was notably absent from the roster of Napoli players released for international assignments.
He isn’t the only player affected; Hamed Junior Traore and Jesper Lindstrom will also be absent from the Ivory Coast and Denmark squads, respectively. Meanwhile, several other Napoli players have been called up for international duty:
Alex Meret, Giovanni Di Lorenzo, and Giacomo Raspadori will represent Italy; Jens Cajuste will play for Sweden; Kvicha Kvaratskhelia for Georgia; Stanislav Lobotka for Slovakia; Leo Ostigard for Norway; Mathias Olivera for Uruguay; Amir Rrahmani for Kosovo; and Piotr Zielinski will join Poland’s national team.
This development underscores the impact of injuries on player availability for national team commitments, affecting both Napoli and the respective national teams.
