Tennis player Aryna Sabalenka has made a surprising decision in the wake of her boyfriend’s death.

The tragic passing of Konstantin Koltsov, Aryna Sabalenka’s partner, has reportedly led the Australian Open champion from Belarus to make a profound decision: to compete in the Miami Open without engaging in any media interviews.

As disclosed by Tennis Channel and shared on the X account @Olly_Tennis_, it was reported that Sabalenka’s late partner, a former hockey player, met his demise by falling from a balcony, according to Miami police.

The circumstances surrounding Koltsov’s death remain murky and complex. Initial reports from Belarusian outlets, later echoed by the Daily Mail, attributed his death to a blood clot. Presently, suicide is considered the most plausible explanation.

The news broke on the evening of Monday, March 18, with subsequent confirmations deeply affecting the sports community, eliciting a wave of sympathy towards Sabalenka through messages of condolence.

In the early hours of Tuesday, the Russian hockey federation confirmed the sad news through a brief statement, without delving into the specifics of his death.

While Sabalenka has yet to make any formal announcements, she is anticipated to participate in the WTA 1000 event in Florida.

The loss of her companion undoubtedly places her in a state of profound grief, compounded by the earlier loss of her beloved father a few years ago, adding to her series of personal tragedies.
