The 20-year-old San Antonio Spurs player, Victor Wembanyama, has earned a spot in the history books with an incredible performance.
Victor Wembanyama of the San Antonio Spurs made NBA history as the first to achieve a game with at least 30 points, 15 rebounds, five assists, and five blocks, all while maintaining a shooting accuracy of 50 percent, during an overtime victory against the Brooklyn Nets at Moody Center on Sunday.
At just 20 years old, Wembanyama showcased his extraordinary talent across 36 minutes, compiling 33 points on 14-for-26 shooting, hitting 1 out of 7 attempts from three-point range, along with grabbing 15 rebounds, distributing seven assists, and blocking seven shots.
This performance led the Spurs to a 122-115 win over the Nets, overcoming a 31-point effort from Brooklyn’s Cam Thomas and halting San Antonio’s three-game losing streak.
The rookie, standing at 7-foot-4, has now achieved over five games with at least 20 points, 10 rebounds, five assists, and five blocks, and marked his 36th double-double in just 60 appearances.
During the overtime period, Wembanyama scored four points and made two critical blocks, contributing to a decisive 12-5 run that clinched the victory for San Antonio.
“I love it,” Wembanyama said, according to Marca. “I think those moments are where we progress the most, where we get better rather than any other moment in the game. So, it’s really, really enjoyable, especially when we win.”
His block on Dennis Schroder’s layup attempt was crucial in keeping the Spurs close, and his subsequent dunk underscored his strong candidacy for Rookie of the Year.
