Jurgen Klopp Abruptly Ends Interview Following ‘Really Dumb’ Question

Jurgen Klopp abruptly left a post-match press interaction following Liverpool’s FA Cup elimination, visibly frustrated by what he considered a ‘dumb question’ from a journalist.

The manager shared his reflections after his team’s 4-3 defeat by Manchester United at Old Trafford on Sunday (March 17), in a dramatic FA Cup quarter-final match.

Liverpool appeared on course for victory, leading 2-1 with goals from Alexis Mac Allister and Mohamed Salah, but United’s late revival, marked by a goal from substitute Antony in the 87th minute, pushed the match into extra time.

Harvey Elliot netted a goal for Liverpool during the extra time’s initial half, only for United’s Marcus Rashford to level the score at 3-3 with a goal in the 112th minute.

Just when a penalty shootout seemed imminent, Amad Diallo secured United’s victory by scoring in the dying moments of extra time.

Liverpool’s elimination from the FA Cup ended their aspirations for a quadruple — winning the Premier League, FA Cup, Europa League, and Carabao Cup — understandably leaving Klopp less than pleased.

His mood was further soured by a question from a Viaplay Sports reporter regarding the players’ reduced intensity during the extra time.

“That’s a bit of a dumb question,” Klopp retorted. “If you see us often, you can ask us the other times why we have so much energy. I don’t know how many games we’ve had recently and how many Manchester United have had. That’s sport. I’m really disappointed about that question, but you thought obviously it’s good.”

The reporter replied with the following: “So too many games.”

This made Klopp furious, but he provided one final answer before leaving the interview.

“Oh you don’t think that. Come on. You are obviously not in a great shape and I have no nerves for you,” he said.
