Jamie Carragher Rips Liverpool Star for Playing ‘Like the Game Is in Slow Motion’ Against Man Utd

Jamie Carragher has lashed out at a Liverpool star, whose performance against Manchester United he was definitely not satisfied with.

Jamie Carragher criticized Liverpool’s Cody Gakpo for his lackadaisical performance during the match against Manchester United on Sunday, saying he played as if ‘the game is in slow motion’.

Liverpool saw their nine-game unbeaten streak snapped at Old Trafford, suffering a 4-3 loss to Erik ten Hag’s team after extra time in a dramatic FA Cup clash.

Liverpool had the upper hand at times, leading 2-1 during regular play and 3-2 in extra time. However, they couldn’t seal the victory, missing several chances to finalize the win within the regular ninety minutes.

Gakpo, who replaced Mohamed Salah in the 77th minute, found it hard to influence the game, his only notable contribution being a cross to Alexis Mac Allister that wasn’t converted into a goal.

Carragher did not hold back in his critique, pointing out the Liverpool attack’s failure to make a significant dent, and specifically mentioned Gakpo’s underwhelming performance against Manchester United.

“Gakpo plays like the game is in slow motion,” the former Liverpool defender wrote on X.

“Unbelievable game & it’s a great result for Man United but Liverpool only have themselves to blame. Scored three & still the attacking players were all very poor. Can’t complain too much as they’ve been amazing all season. Football bloody hell!”
