Conor McGregor has identified three matchups that he considers fitting for his UFC comeback, expressing dissatisfaction with the negative reaction surrounding one of the possible opponents.
As we move further into March, Conor McGregor’s return to the UFC remains shrouded in uncertainty, with his current focus on promoting the Road House remake with Jake Gyllenhaal.
In an interview with Adam Catterall for talkSPORT MMA, McGregor named three fighters as top candidates for his comeback: Michael Chandler, Dustin Poirier, and Nate Diaz. He was notably surprised by the criticism directed at one of these potential fights.
Although many fans anticipate McGregor’s return against Michael Chandler this summer, details regarding the opponent, location, and date are yet to be confirmed.
In a discussion on the recently launched talkSPORT MMA YouTube channel, McGregor mentioned three fighters he’s considering for his return, starting with his opponent from TUF 31.
“[Michael] Chandler, of course, I would assume that would be the first one,” he said, according to talkSPORT MMA.
“It was good to see [Dustin] Poirier get that win at the weekend, that makes this the quadrilogy – we’ll say the ‘real trilogy’, [that would] really to finish it and put an end to it, that is a huge bout right now… I anticipated that the result would go that way and I was happy to see it, and that’s a great one for sure.”
“Obviously, I’ve also got the Diaz trilogy, that’s what I said for The Sphere but there was cold water put on that publicly off the bat, I wasn’t happy about that.”
