Conor McGregor has made a shocking admission about his UFC comeback. The Irish MMA star has not been in a fight since July 2021.
Conor McGregor is openly expressing his dissatisfaction with the ongoing delays and complications surrounding his much-anticipated return to UFC action.
Nearly three years have elapsed since McGregor last competed in the UFC, a tenure interrupted by a leg injury during his fight with Dustin Poirier at UFC 264.
After a lengthy recovery period, there was a strong buzz about McGregor stepping back into the octagon in 2023, heightened by his appearance as a coach on The Ultimate Fighter against Michael Chandler, hinting at a possible clash in December.
Despite the buildup, this fight, along with subsequent rumors for January and a slot at UFC 300, never came to fruition.
McGregor’s latest declaration aimed for a comeback during International Fight Week in June, yet UFC president Dana White has been tight-lipped, offering no confirmation on when McGregor will actually fight again.
This situation has left the sport’s standout star ready and eager to compete yet thwarted by unforeseen hindrances at every turn.
In a candid interview with The Mac Life at the debut of his latest movie, Road House, McGregor voiced his aggravation, sharing his disappointment over gearing up for fights that consistently fail to materialize, leading to a diminishing drive.
“I had a camp in Cannes, the south of France, I had a camp in Dubai, world champions training with me where I was hoping for a December date, then a January date, then it keeps getting pushed back, then I lose interest and stop training for a while,” he said.
“Not stop training, I’m always training, but stop full training and [start] drinking a little bit. So I’m going to go back, regroup, get full tested, and get ready to rock. The date’s going to come and then I’ll be ready to rock.”
