Jake Paul has openly criticized his brother Logan for making false claims about a potential bout with Mike Tyson.
In a recent announcement, Jake Paul revealed his intentions to step into the ring with the iconic heavyweight boxer, Mike Tyson, for a blockbuster event scheduled at the AT&T Stadium in Texas on July 20.
The decision by the 27-year-old YouTuber-turned-boxer to challenge Tyson, who is 31 years his senior, has drawn significant skepticism and critique, especially considering Tyson’s retirement from professional boxing in 2005 and his last appearance in a 2020 exhibition match against Roy Jones Jr. that ended in a draw.
Logan Paul, who shifted from being a YouTube celebrity to a combat sports participant with a notable exhibition match against Floyd Mayweather in 2021, recently shared on his Impaulsive podcast that he had a chance to fight Mike Tyson but decided against it.
Logan mentioned that the offer to fight Tyson was made, but it didn’t involve a Netflix special or come with a significant financial reward.
He also shared his thoughts on whether he could win against Mike Tyson, suggesting that while he thinks he could, the idea seems far-fetched given Tyson’s age, making the whole scenario feel quite surreal.
Contradicting his brother’s statements, Jake Paul has now accused Logan of fabricating this narrative, offering an alternate account of the situation.
“It is not true. We are the ones that brought the deal to Mike Tyson, so he was never in the market to offer fights for others to turn down. So yes, it’s weird to go online an lie. My team struck a deal with Netflix, and then went to other fighters to get them involved,” he said, according to Sportbible.
“It started with Tommy Fury but he wanted more money. Then we went to Mike Tyson, and after months of talking we got him to fight. Mike Tyson wasn’t offering people deals, I don’t know why he is saying that. We were the ones offering the deal.”
