Victor Osimhen points to Cristiano Ronaldo as a significant reason for the Saudi Pro League’s substantial progress over the past year.
Victor Osimhen, the Nigerian Super Eagles and SSC Napoli forward, has highlighted Cristiano Ronaldo’s crucial contribution to the growing prestige of the Saudi Pro League.
Following Ronaldo’s high-profile transfer to Al Nassr in January, after ending his stint with Manchester United under tense circumstances, the Saudi Pro League has witnessed a remarkable surge in its development and global appeal.
The influence of legendary figures like Ronaldo often transcends their on-field performances, significantly impacting the leagues they join and the broader football scene.
Since Ronaldo’s arrival in Saudi Arabia, the league has seen an influx of international interest and elite players, marking a new era of competitiveness and visibility.
Osimhen, who competes in Italy’s Serie A with Napoli, acknowledges Ronaldo’s instrumental role in elevating the Saudi Pro League’s status on the world stage.
“They are trying to develop their league, which is good,” Osimhen said, according to ESPN.
“One [Ronaldo] of the greatest of all time has gone there. Because of his influence, they have attracted a lot of talented players to also go there.”
“So for me it’s really good, they are trying to build their league into one of the best. They are doing something amazing.”
