‘R9’ Ronaldo has made his choice between football legends Lionel Messi and Cristiano Ronaldo in a recent video.
The ongoing debate over who is the greatest of all time (GOAT) between Messi and Ronaldo has seen various opinions, with Manchester City’s Erling Haaland and Eden Hazard also sharing their views, potentially stirring controversy among fans.
The Brazilian icon Ronaldo has previously expressed his opinions on both Messi and Ronaldo.
However, he has now definitively resolved the debate in a recent video.
In a conversation with The Daily Mail, when prompted to choose between Messi and Ronaldo, the double World Cup champion expressed his preference for the Argentine, who clinched the 2022 World Cup in Qatar.
This isn’t the first instance of the ex-forward for Real Madrid, Barcelona, and AC Milan commending Messi.
Last year, ‘R9’ listed his top eight footballers of all time, notably excluding the Portuguese star.
“I think there is a very, very special group where you have Diego, Messi, Cruyff, Beckenbauer, Pele, Van Basten, Ronaldinho. I would include myself,” he said. “Let the fans say, let them debate it in the bars. But you can’t rank them, can’t compare generations.”
Ronaldo speaks from experience, having represented some of the most prestigious clubs globally throughout his illustrious career.
With Messi’s World Cup victory with Argentina, he is now broadly considered the undisputed greatest of all time.
