Chelsea’s 3-2 win against Newcastle United on Monday night featured standout moments, with Cole Palmer’s performance securing the Blues’ victory at Stamford Bridge.

Palmer, shining brightly for Chelsea, contributed his 13th goal of the season and provided his 11th assist since his arrival at the club.

With Gareth Southgate and his assistant Steve Holland watching, Palmer’s display couldn’t have been more timely, impressing the England coaching duo in the lead-up to this summer’s European Championship.

While Southgate and Holland’s visit was partly to observe Palmer, the match also showcased several other English talents. Anthony Gordon was among them, although his involvement was cut short due to an injury in the first half.

Nonetheless, Southgate would have been impressed by Palmer’s relentless drive to create opportunities for Chelsea in the SW6 area.

Palmer assisted Jackson in the sixth minute and later, his early attempt in the second half surprised Martin Dubravka, catching the goalkeeper out of position.

Following the match, Palmer spoke to Sky Sports about the victory, his goal, and the developments at Stamford Bridge.

He also discussed his experience at Chelsea more broadly, expressing his belief that the club’s young squad will eventually vindicate themselves and silence the critics.

“I think there’s so much talent at Chelsea, the fans don’t see it, you guys [the media] don’t see it,” Palmer said. “The way the manager works us on the pitch, the things he does with us, it’s only going to get better.

“I’m sure, if not next season then the season after. It’s a project, everyone is young, trying to play well. You will see it sooner or later.”
