Russell Wilson has found a new team: The NFL superstar personally confirms his move from the Broncos.
Russell Wilson is joining the Pittsburgh Steelers. The NFL quarterback confirmed the news himself following media reports.
“Year 13. Grateful,” the 35-year-old posted on his social media channels. According to ESPN, the 2014 Super Bowl champion has signed a one-year contract with the Steelers, during which they will pay him 38 million dollars.
Last season, Wilson played as the quarterback for the Denver Broncos – the franchise had recently announced their decision to part ways with him.
In his second year, Wilson achieved 3,070 passing yards, 26 touchdowns, and completed 66.4 percent of his passes.
Wilson Signed a Mega-Contract – Success Was Lacking
Since the departure of franchise legend Ben Roethlisberger in 2020, the Steelers have been searching for a worthy successor, with Kenny Pickett unable to fill the gap as hoped.
In 2022, Wilson had signed a five-year contract worth 242 million US dollars with Broncos, which at the time was the second-largest deal in NFL history.
Wilson’s departure, who had been one of the league’s top quarterbacks during his time with the Seattle Seahawks (2012 to 2022) and won the title in 2014, did not come as a surprise.
In his two seasons with the Broncos, he won only 11 out of 30 games, and Denver missed the playoffs both times.
