Harry Kane continues to rack up goals for Bayern Munich this season.
With this, Kane has scored 30 goals this season.
It’s the first time in 60 years that a player has scored as many goals in their first season in the German top division. In the 1963/64 season, legend Uwe Seeler scored 30 goals for Hamburg in a single season.
Thus, the record is in jeopardy as there are nine games left in the current season. Kane transferred from Premier League club Tottenham to Bayern last summer.
Kane is also on the hunt to break Robert Lewandowski’s goal-scoring record in the Bundesliga. The Pole scored 41 goals for Bayern in the 2021/22 season.
Bayern overwhelmed the visitors from Mainz in Saturday’s match, leading 3-1 by halftime. The situation worsened in the second half, and after 70 minutes, Kane completed his hat-trick. The Englishman scored with his right foot, left foot, and head.
However, Bayern is still seven points behind Leverkusen at the top of the table. The latter also has a game in hand over the reigning league champions.
Andreas Hanche-Olsen was substituted in for Mainz when the score was 7-1, a quarter-hour before the end, right after Kane scored his final goal.
Is Kane Returning to the Premier League?
Despite Kane’s success in the Bundesliga, rumors suggest he may return to the Premier League. However, a return to Tottenham seems unlikely.
