Manchester United bounced back to form with a 2-0 victory over Everton on Saturday.
The win was secured with penalty goals from Bruno Fernandes and Marcus Rashford. Fernandes opened the score early in the game, followed by Rashford increasing the Reds’ lead before halftime at Old Trafford.
The triumph concluded United’s two-match losing streak in the Premier League, after defeats to Fulham and Manchester City.
United is now gearing up to clash with arch-rivals Liverpool in the FA Cup quarter-final next weekend.
This could prove to be a crucial match for coach Erik ten Hag, who risks losing his job if he doesn’t lead United to victory.
Previously, there have been reports that the club requires Ten Hag to either win the FA Cup or qualify the English club for the Champions League next season.
Bruno Achieves New United Milestone
Fernandes converted a penalty in the eighth minute at Old Trafford on Saturday.
This achievement made the Portuguese international the club’s all-time leading penalty scorer with 29 goals, surpassing Ruud van Nistelrooy’s record of 28.
Fernandes has contributed eight goals and nine assists across all competitions this season for United. The team’s captain has also surpassed Wayne Rooney (27), Cristiano Ronaldo (21), and Eric Cantona (17) in the club’s penalty scoring tally.
Fernandes is under contract with United until the summer of 2026. The English powerhouse club has an option in his contract that allows for an extension of his stay by an additional year.
