Jadon Sancho has reportedly lost interest in returning to Manchester United as long as Erik ten Hag remains the manager.
Mason Greenwood is also among those speculated to exit Manchester United this summer, placing Sancho among a list of players anticipated to depart at season’s end.
Following disagreements with Ten Hag, Sancho went back to Borussia Dortmund on loan in January and hasn’t appeared for Manchester United since August.
According to BILD, Sancho has no desire to return to Old Trafford after the summer, suggesting he may never wear the United jersey again if Ten Hag continues to lead the team next season.
Sancho holds Ten Hag responsible for his Manchester United setbacks
Sancho’s uncertainty about his future is heightened by his belief that Ten Hag is responsible for his declining career, and he is unwilling to play under the Dutch coach again.
With Dortmund’s sporting director, Sebastian Kehl, reportedly keen on retaining Sancho in Germany, a second loan spell could be on the horizon.
The report indicates that Sancho would need to agree to a salary reduction to stay with Dortmund for another year, as they cannot match his Manchester United earnings.
His contract with Old Trafford is set to expire in 2026, with an option for Manchester United to extend it through the summer of 2027.
The future scenario for Sancho
Another period of exclusion would not benefit Sancho or Manchester United. The club’s new co-owner aims to make significant signings during the summer transfer window, and offloading Sancho could provide United with additional funds and relieve the financial burden of his hefty salary.
However, considering Sancho’s underwhelming performance since returning to Dortmund, the report suggests that suitable permanent offers might be scarce.
This could once again place Sancho and Manchester United in a challenging position, even as Dortmund crafts its own transfer strategy.
