Nick Kyrgios is working on his tennis comeback after a long-term injury. And it seems that his return may not be too far off.
On Instagram, the Australian answered questions from his fans and discussed the potential timeline for his return: “If everything goes well, I hope to be back on the court in a month,” the 28-year-old said.
Last year, Nick Kyrgios only played in one tournament. At the ATP event in Stuttgart, the 2022 Wimbledon finalist was eliminated in the first round by Yibing Wu (5:7, 3:6). A wrist injury then sidelined Kyrgios for many months.
As a result, the 28-year-old had to put his comeback plans for the Australian Open at the beginning of this year on hold.
Instead, Kyrgios joined Eurosport as a TV analyst for the year’s first Grand Slam tournament.
In several interviews, the Australian also mentioned his intention not to remain a tennis pro for much longer.
“I only want to play for about one to two more years. And then quit at the top and on my own terms,” Kyrgios said recently on a podcast by British author Jay Shetty.
In recent years, the Canberra-born tennis pro has repeatedly been set back by injuries.
In 2023, a knee injury initially stopped him before a ligament tear in the wrist further delayed his return.
However, Kyrgios did not specify exactly when and where he will make his comeback on the ATP Tour during the Q&A with his fans on Instagram.
