Will he be the mega-transfer of the summer? Several clubs have shown massive interest in Napoli star Khvicha Kvaratskhelia.
Khvicha Kvaratskhelia is one of the most sought-after forwards. In the current Serie A season, the Georgian has scored nine goals in 25 appearances for SSC Napoli and provided five assists, sparking interest.
Napoli is not inclined to let their offensive star go. The leaders of the club fear they won’t be able to keep top scorer Victor Osimhen, so they are determined to retain Kvaratskhelia.
To deter potential suitors, Napoli has now slapped a mega price tag on the 23-year-old Georgian international. According to the Spanish newspaper AS, the bosses of the Italian champions are only willing to start talks for a transfer fee of at least 150 million euros.
Despite this, Kvaratskhelia’s agent, Mamuka Jugeli, continues to fuel transfer rumors about his client.
“We are talking to the club about the future, we’ll see what happens,” he told the Italian sports newspaper La Gazzetta dello Sport.
“He will leave if a club makes an irrefutable offer. I can’t give a specific number; it depends on De Laurentiis (Napoli president Aurelio de Laurentiis). Everything will be clear in May.”
Kvaratskhelia’s contract runs until 2027, and Napoli would like to extend it as soon as possible – with improved terms for the forward.
Transfer rumors about Kvaratskhelia have been circulating for a while. Liverpool, Arsenal, Chelsea, Manchester United, and PSG are said to be interested in him.
Recently, former Munich star Willy Sagnol, who coaches Kvaratskhelia on the Georgian national team, said that the forward has the quality to succeed at a club like FC Bayern.
“Khvicha Kvaratskhelia is already playing for a top club at Napoli, but there are football giants like Real Madrid, FC Bayern, or Barcelona where he could play,” he said.
It remains to be seen which of these clubs will put up the mega sum of at least 150 million euros for him.
