Ex-AC Milan coach Fabio Capello believes Napoli will face a significant challenge in replacing Victor Osimhen.
Victor Osimhen is poised to depart from the current Serie A champions this summer, with elite clubs like Chelsea, Arsenal, Manchester United, and Paris Saint-Germain showing keen interest in the Nigerian forward.
Fabio Capello highlighted the difficulty Napoli will encounter in finding an equally impactful forward to fill Osimhen’s shoes once he exits the team.
“How do you replace Osimhen next year? Million dollar question, there are no players around to replace Osimhen. You would have to have a crystal ball to find him,” Capello told II Martino via Area Napoli.
Last season, the 25-year-old was instrumental in Napoli’s triumph, netting 26 goals across 32 matches and securing the Scudetto for the first time in more than 30 years.
This season, he has found the back of the net 11 times in 17 league matches.
In December, the 25-year-old signed a new contract in Naples, which reportedly contains a release clause of £112 million.
It seems Napoli is prepared to profit from the star’s departure, as President Aurelio D Laurentiis has indicated he is aware that Osimhen will be leaving.
“This [Osimhen’s exit] was already known since this summer, our negotiations [over the new contract] were friendly, otherwise it would not have been so long,” he said, according to The Sun.
