Could Andre Onana be on his way out of Manchester United after just one season at Old Trafford? The Cameroonian international goalkeeper has struggled to impress since arriving from Inter Milan in a deal worth 50 million euros last summer.
Now, he has set the internet ablaze with speculation that he could be heading back to Italy as early as this summer.
This season for Manchester United, Onana has conceded 57 goals in 37 matches and kept a clean sheet in only 11 of these games. Many of his performances have been subject to severe criticism. His arrival was rushed through last summer after unexpected issues with contract negotiations with David de Gea, and although the criticism has lessened lately, it wouldn’t be a huge surprise if the Red Devils decided to look for a new goalkeeper.
Could Onana return to Inter?
According to FCInterNews, he has purchased a house worth 6.5 million euros in the suburbs of Milan, suggesting that he has no plans to settle in Manchester for the long haul. The house, located in Corbetta close to Magenta, is situated in a quiet area surrounded by green spaces to ensure absolute privacy. The villa is built on a plot of 1,300 square meters and has an outdoor area of 3,000 square meters with a swimming pool, barbecue area, and garden. In other words, it lacks nothing.
Inter previously played this trick with Romelu Lukaku and Chelsea. The Nerazzurri sold ‘Big Rom’, a former Manchester United player, to the Blues for 113 million euros but brought him back on loan after he failed to make an immediate impact at Stamford Bridge. Inter could also have signed him permanently, had he not been caught in secret negotiations with Juventus.
Social media is buzzing with suggestions that Inter could do the same with Manchester United and Onana, even though veteran goalkeeper Yann Sommer has had a more than solid debut season.
