A number of big names could leave Manchester United this summer, where there are also expectations that several major purchases will be made.

It has been a below-average season for The Red Devils, who have failed to build on the third place they achieved in Erik ten Hag’s debut season at the club.

United is sixth in the Premier League 11 points behind Tottenham and Aston Villa, who have the same number of points, in the fight for the top four.

United’s chances of qualifying for the Champions League next season are at an absolute minimum, hence the squad needs a thorough overhaul this summer.

According to Manchester Evening News, as many as seven first-team players could leave the club this summer.

Tom Heaton, Brandon Williams, and Anthony Martial are all on contracts expiring at the season’s end.

Additionally, Omari Forson, Alvaro Fernandez, Hannibal Mejbri, Donny van de Beek, Jadon Sancho, Facundo Pellistri, and Mason Greenwood could all leave the club this summer.

The majority of these players are currently on loan elsewhere. Greenwood and Sancho are the biggest names associated with this expected clear-out.

Both players have been involved in personal matters off the field, with Greenwood being arrested and charged in a case of alleged attempted rape, while Sancho has had a notable dispute with Manchester United’s current manager, Erik ten Hag, which took place for public viewing on social media.

Moreover, there have been rumors that Christian Eriksen and Raphaël Varane could also leave Manchester United. This means that the English club could end up saying goodbye to no fewer than 12 different players in the upcoming transfer window.

Of course, this would be advantageous for Sir Jim Ratcliffe, who has purchased a significant ownership stake in the club. The British billionaire is indeed eager to overhaul the squad after this season.
