Victor Osimhen, a star player for Napoli, has made history as the first Nigerian to win the Best African International Player award at the Ghana Football Awards.
This accolade recognizes his performance during this season, in which he also claimed two individual awards: the top scorer award in Italy’s Serie A and the title of the league’s best striker.
The 24-year-old forward outshone several prominent competitors, including Liverpool’s Mohamed Salah, Manchester City’s Riyad Mahrez, and Yassine Bounou of Morocco, garnering the highest number of votes for the award.
His recent triumphs have positioned Osimhen as a strong contender for the CAF African Player of the Year award.
His exceptional performance in the Italian top-flight football and his recent accolade at the Ghana Football Awards have undoubtedly solidified his standing in the African football scene.
