Victor Osimhen, a star player for Napoli, has made history as the first Nigerian to win the Best African International Player award at the Ghana Football Awards​.

This accolade recognizes his performance during this season, in which he also claimed two individual awards: the top scorer award in Italy’s Serie A and the title of the league’s best striker​.

The 24-year-old forward outshone several prominent competitors, including Liverpool’s Mohamed Salah, Manchester City’s Riyad Mahrez, and Yassine Bounou of Morocco, garnering the highest number of votes for the award​.

His recent triumphs have positioned Osimhen as a strong contender for the CAF African Player of the Year award​.
