Roger Federer, having retired from professional tennis over a year ago, has recently shared that he doesn’t find himself yearning for the competitive world of the ATP Tour.

His last professional appearance was at the 2022 Laver Cup in London, where he partnered with Rafael Nadal in doubles, marking a poignant end to his illustrious career.

Chronic knee issues in his final years contributed to Federer’s contentment with retirement, diminishing any longing he might have had to return to professional play.

“Yeah, I get that question a lot, and I don’t miss it. I really don’t,” Federer told GQ. “I feel really at peace. I think it’s also because I know that my knee and my body and my mind don’t allow me to be out there.”

“Do I feel like, Oh, I could hit that shot? Yeah, okay: Maybe I could right now. But I feel like I squeezed the lemon out. I tried everything I had. And I’m so at peace.”

Roger Federer finds pleasure in playing tennis leisurely with his family after retiring from the professional scene. He recounted a special moment when he and his wife booked a tennis court for themselves for the first time, playing alongside their children who were taking lessons. This experience brought him genuine joy.

Federer appreciates the shift from professional to recreational tennis, enjoying the liberty to play without the obligation to enhance his performance.

The absence of pressure over mistakes or the need for improvement allows him to revel in the simple pleasure of the game, marking a serene chapter in his life after an illustrious career.
