Lionel Messi, who plays for Inter Miami in Major League Soccer, made no secret of his dissatisfaction with the very specific rule used in the American league.

Inter Miami defeated Montreal 3-2, thanks to a comeback in the 12th round of the MLS (Major League Soccer), a match notable for criticisms from Lionel Messi.

The number 10 not only failed to score – with Rojas, Luis Suárez, and Cremaschi neutralizing the goals from Duke and Vilsaint – but also saw his opportunity to take a free kick at the 44th minute denied when he was forced to leave the field after the game had already been stopped for 15 seconds so he could receive medical attention following a foul.

This new rule of the competition was not well received by the Argentine forward, who expressed his displeasure in front of the cameras: “These kinds of rules… this is not good.”

This rule is not used in leagues other than the MLS. Therefore, Messi’s dissatisfaction with this rule has contributed to starting a debate about it.

On social media, opinions are divided. Many believe it is a positive addition to the sport, while others are strongly against it. In this way, it is no different from many other rules in sports, which are also often debated.
