Mike Tyson has fought some of boxing’s greatest legends, but there was one man he refused to accept a fight with.
Mike Tyson, once known as the ‘Baddest Man on the Planet’ for his fearsome knockouts in the boxing ring, surprisingly admitted he wasn’t up for a fight with a WWE legend, jokingly saying, “he will kill me as a shoe.”
During his prime, Tyson was a force to be reckoned with, known for ending fights with swift and brutal knockouts. This prowess led him to become the youngest heavyweight champion in history at the age of 20 in 1986.
Tyson dominated the heavyweight division from 1987 to 1990, earning worldwide acclaim (and inducing fear) due to his remarkable power in the ring.
Former wrestling manager Bruce Prichard made a big revelation about Tyson on the ‘Something to Wrestle’ podcast. He said that the legend refused to accept a match against WWE legend Hulk Hogan.
“There’s a tape that exists with Mike Tyson in Tokyo, Japan. Vince had a Japanese film crew that followed him around in Japan. Since there was a language barrier there, Vince, through the interpreters, just told the camera guy to shoot Tyson. Just don’t even stop shooting him. We’re not gonna start and stop because that was getting too confusing,” he said, according to the Daily Star.
McMahon wanted Tyson to step into the ring with Hogan, but Tyson was not interested in this. He was simply afraid of being curled up.
“One of the conversations that took place was Vince joking, ‘Goddamn Mike, we gotta get you in the ring! I gotta get you into wrestling’,” McMahon said, to which Mike replied: “Oh, I ain’t getting in the ring with Hulk Hogan. He’s huge. He will kill me as a shoe.”
